Car Alarms: Factory Car Alarm going off, chrysler town, alarm one

Question
Sounds like you know your stuff . I just got a 96 chrysler town & country mini van and the alarm has been going Off for no reason . I believe my key positon Door switch is bad and will be replaceing the switch . It looks like the van had a remote start before and may not be there , what should I look for uder the dash to make sure everything has been done properly (installed or removed )  The biggest Question is , if i need to can i dissable the factory alarm system ? Please say yes and how can i do it . THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP .  GREG

Answer
Bad news I am afraid. No you can not simply disable the
factory alarm if the door locks are messed up.
They're system is dependent on the locks to also
arm and disarm that system.

If it's an after market system involved, then
look around under dash for a valet switch to
work with. But from past experience, like I said
if the door lock is busted, that needs to be fixed
to fix the factory alarm.

One thing though.
When you say it's "going off", please describe what
sights and sounds you are experiencing.

Siren? Car horn? Headlights or parking lights flashing?
Just what.

Let me know.
