Car Alarms: 97 Camry Alarm Problem, alarmtek, pitched sound

Question
I have a 97 Camry with a factory-installed security system. I bought the car used and was never provided with any sort of transmitter remote. I have had the car two years without any problems. Today out of the blue the car began unlocking on its own and then we started hearing a high-pitched sound coming from the car. To get it to stop we had to disconnect the battery and then reconnect it and it would be fine for about 10-15 minutes then the alarm would go off again. This process continued and sometimes the horn would go off as well. Took driver's side seat out to get to the "brain" of the computer and disconnected the wires there. But then the car wouldn't start, so we plugged the middle wire back in and the car started but would not shift out of park. Plugged entire system back up the way it was before and car still would not shift out of park. Checked 15A-Stop fuse and it was blown. Replaced fuse and started car and it blew it again. Please help, car is stuck in park! At this point I'm not really concerned about keeping the alarm system, I just want the car to be driveable again. Thanks for your help.

Answer
sorry, nut my expertise is in after market systems.
The trouble here is that the "factory alarm"
is just a noise generator, and headlight flasher.
Would not affect the running of the engine.

What you've done here is reset factory equipment and
are now stuck in the mechanical malfuntion which I
have never seen before. You need to contact Toyota
now to get out of this puzzle. I honestly don't
know how to advise you on an alarm disarm issue here.

I will say you probably have an aftermarket alarm
as well, but at this point, this trouble is
all on the Toyota system you disabled under the seat.

If not going to go to Toyota, try
www.chiltonsonline.com and try to figure it out
on your own with the specs for the car in hand.

Let me know what you discover. Sorry I can't assist
further on this.
