Car Alarms: 1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue Anti Theft - DRIVING ME CRAZY = As Well as my mechanic!, dash area, button spring

Question
I am driving my late father's 1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue - It's agreat ride but there have been some troubles with the anti theft system. Occasionally the system would activate and not be able to be disarmed with the drivers side door key without locking and unlocking the door several times - this usually happens when you are either A in a hurry or B at a crowded parking lot with everyone staring at you. My mechanic disabbled the drivers side switch and says that should work but the alarm went off again last night and now I cannot disarm it with either the drivers door or the passengers door and of course the remote is long gone - I just want to drive the damn car - at this point i don't even care if I am able to lock it at night or not - any suggestions or tips would be most appreciated ! Thanks Kevin

Answer
Understood, & normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it.

If yours is malfunctioning at this point,
you can disable it for good by doing the
following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
LIGHT GREEN/ORANGE (-) AND IS LOCATED IN THE
DRIVER'S KICK PANEL COMING OUT
OF THE DRIVERS DOOR LAMB, OR
AT THE ANTI-THEFT MODULE ABOVE GLOVE BOX.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

Now, if this is an aftermarket system:
try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

This would now be valet/overide mode.
(disabled)
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

One of these solutions should
do it for you. Let me know which it was.

Have a good day.
