Car Alarms: 02 Toyota Highlander w/ VIP RS3200 Plus, toyota highlander, sanity check

Question
Hi,

After leaving my 2002 Toyota Highlander in parking garage for 10 days, I returned and found that the key fob did not unlock the vehicle. Its security system is Toyota's VIP RS3200 Plus.

I used the key to first unlock the hatch and then the driver door. However, the security status monitor light continued to blink. No interior lights came on. I put the key in the ignition and nothing happened: no cranking, nothing lit on the dash except for  the "airbag" idiot light.

Locked the car manually and tried again. No change. The security monitor continued to blink.

Found the VIP manual in the glove box and tried disarming it via both door lock and ignition switch. No change. I cannot disarm it.

As a sanity check I tested the fob's battery at home and it's fine. Unfortunately the other fob will not be back in town until next week.

What has gone wrong and what can I do?

Thanks,

   Bob

Answer
Sorry not familiar with the OEM system.
My expertise is in after market systems
applications.

Please contact a local Toyota service department
for advice on they're system and how you can
circumvent it.

Sorry, wish I had more for you.
