Car Alarms: 2006 camry alarm problem, fuse box, dash area

Question
We bought a 2006 Camry last year from dealer, and we were told that the alarm was uninstalled by them (or maybe disabled?) when we bought it. However, it goes off sometimes when airplanes fly by or when cars pass it in the parking lot. Now today it is going off all the time, like once per minute. Everytime it goes off, there are 16 honking sounds, and we can click the door open remote to stop it. However, after a few seconds, it beeps 2 or 3 times and then starts honking again. We didn't do anything to it. How can we stop this? Is this alarm system really uninstalled? Thank you very much!

Answer
Well, ya answered the last question yourself.
Yes, it's still in there, and they simply did not tell you
how to operate it. That also means there's no way
to find out what system is in there without asking them.

Car dealers do that. Ok, for now, look around under
the dash area for a button, small black or red,
spring loaded.
Then,
KEY ON, JUST BEFORE CRANKING
PRESS AND HOLD IN THE VALET BUTTON
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS, AND THE LED
FLASHING IN THE DASH IS ON SOLID.
KEY OFF.

This is valet/overide for most after market
systems. If this does not apply, then
you may have other issues.

Like...

If it's an OEM issue (factory),
normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

In the 06-07 Camry the FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE
IS GRAY (-) IN DRIVER KICK SAME AS UNLOCK,
Located in the drivers side kick OR BODY ECU .
BODY ECU IS BACK OF FUSE BOX

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely. This also
voids any factory warranty.
Oh yeah, this is a car under warranty, so...
"hi, my car is malfuctioning, please fix it."
comes to mind.

However it's unlikely to be the factory alarm
from your description.

Anyhow, that's the advice I can offer
you without inspection. Best advice to start
is to contact the dealer for service on
a warranty basis.

I hope it helps you sort it out.

Good luck on it.
