Car Alarms: Keyless Entry Remote Not Disarming Alarm, alarmtek, dodge neon

Question
I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT, I had an aftermarket pursuit alarm system installed in my vehicle when I purchased it.

Today I accidentally left my headlights on in my car, I thought they should automatically turn off, but apparently they didn't and my car was dead.

I opened the door with my key realizing the alarm light wasn't blinking and turned off the headlights. Within a minute I started to faintly hear the alarm begin to go off. I shut the door and locked it and the alarm got louder and louder and the red light came on.

I tried to turn the alarm off with my remote, and it did nothing. After a minute the alarm stopped, I again tried my remote and this time it set the alarm off.

I got the other remote and tried it with the same result. I cannot open my car without setting off the alarm, I cannot disarm the alarm, and I'm assuming that since the car has an engine shut off I can't even start it.

Is there a way I can reset the alarm to get it to recognize the remotes or do i have no choice and need to have it towed somewhere to be fixed, and if so where?

Answer
let's put it into valet/service mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid. Your car would/should
start now, all things being equal that is.
If it does start, this solves the problem for now.
Leave it in service mode until the dealership
gets a chance to inspect it.

I'd have them double
check the lighting system and find out
why it malfunctioned, and also the charging system
to determine if it too needs a servicing.

Have a nice afternoon.
