Car Alarms: 2005 hyundai elantra alarm, 2005 hyundai elantra, hyundai elantra

Question
hi,
I wanted to program another keyless remote for my 2005 elantra. (It has just one right now). I opened the dash but could not find the valet/override switch discussed in this forum. The Alarm module is black in color and closed with no switch on it. Am I missing something?
thanks.

Answer
You need a valet switch of some kind.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Without it, you'll need to pull and unplug
the alarm harness and repair the wiring.

Keep looking.
