Car Alarms: 2002 Ford Taurus Panic Alarm, ford taurus, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2002 Ford Taurus.  Recently, the panic alarm seems to go off when the car is parked.  It just goes off randomly, for no reason.  Sometimes it goes off 5-6 times a day.  It's very annoying to me and my neighbors, to say the least.

I called the dealership, but they won't tell me how to disconnect it.  They want me to bring it in and pay $95 for them to disconnect.  Can you tell me how I can disconnect it myself?

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: I believe it's a factory installed system.  On the little device that comes with the key are four buttons - lock, unlock, panic button and trunk release.  I don't know what happens on the dash because it only goes off when the car is turned off and parked.  The horn honks and the headlights flash.  It's not an alarm to prevent theft or where if you push against the car or try to open it, that it goes off.  It's just a panic button.  You just push the button on the little black device and it goes on.  You push it again, and it goes off.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to turn it off completely.

Answer
Ok, you'll need some tools.
or, take it to the local stereo/alarm
installer and give him these notes:

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
pink/white |-  |in the 26 pin plug at GEM.
The GEM module is to the left of the
steering column.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
