Car Alarms: toyota carina car alarm, toyota carina, programming fee

Question
I bought a run around 1998 toyata carina. we were not given a transponder key only an ordinary key. I have just had to change the battery and cannot start the car as I think it is fitted with a factory alarm  Can you help with an economical solution Thanks for your very helpful site...

Answer
We don't have this one in the states, but if the
immobilizer was powered down, you most likely
lost programming in the key. Ring up Toyota and
price the reseting fee.

Sorry, but this does happen from time to time.
Should not cost too much. Just a reset-
programming fee I would think.

Cheers.
