Car Alarms: remote triggers alarm, mercedes ml, rf transmitters

Question
I have a 2002 Mercedes ML that I moved from PA to FL a year ago.  Since that time, when I use my keyless remote to lock the doors, the alarm sounds (not all the time, and more often when it's humid).  My husband's remote does not have this problem.  I've had Mercedes change the battery, then replace the entire key.  For a few weeks the condition improves, but then it occurs again.  Mercedes then ran diagnostics on the remote and found nothing wrong.  Some have said its because I'm left handed and I must be blocking the frequency because of how I hold the key.  I know I am not touching the alarm button on the remote when I use it.  I can solve the problem by locking the door, quickly unlocking it, then locking it again.  How does the remote work?  Have you heard of this problem before?  Is there something I can do to fix the remote? This is baffling.

Answer
Very odd. Did you have Mercedes provide
and program another remote? I never have heard of
this except to say that the remote is bad,
and rather then jerk around with it,
replace it, and see if the trouble
is sloved. I am going to have to advise
the same for you.

I mean you could futz around with it until the
cows come home, and maybe have real troubles in the
future in an area that you REALLY do need your
remote to work the first time!

No, my take on this, is the remote is intermittent,
unusable and unreliable. If the dealership can't
figure out what the cause is with they're own
equipment, then I say chuck the old remote
and I'd want the thing working right with a fresh one.

Oh, & by the way, the "left handed" comment should be
scoffed at. That's just silly. The human body actually
acts like an antenna to rf transmitters/remotes. So the
oposite effect would have happened.
More range, not less.

Go up and get an new one programmed, or take hubby's
and have him go up to the dealership to do it!

Happy Memorial day. Stay safe.
