Car Alarms: Honda Accord power door lock constantly triggered, fcc id number, power door locks

Question
QUESTION: I have a '96 Honda Accord EX with an OEM alarm. Arming the alarm used to also lock the doors. Now when the alarm is armed, the power door locks try to lock the doors, but they don't lock. Instead, the physical lock on the door by the handle goes about half way and the mechanism keeps trying to lock it, as if it were jammed or couldn't push it all the way. I've removed the power door lock fuse in the mean time, manually lock the doors and arm the alarm separately, but would like to know how to resolve the issue, if it's electrical or mechanical. Thanks for any help you could offer!

ANSWER: Ok, probably not the OEM alarm.
Does it chirp when armed? flash the parking lights?
Or is it the car horn and headlights flashing?

We have to determine what system
you have there, and back track the wiring.

Start by identifying it.

Please go to www.remotesunlimited.com and try
to identify the system you have by the fcc ID number
on the back of the fob. Once you know
what you have there, go to www.hondasecurity.com
and see the link for the HONDA ACCORD ARCHIVES.

You will see the corresponding notes for the
car's wiring, and will be able to find the trouble
spot. It sounds like a bad ground, but check it out.

Either way, there is a fix.
Let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: You're right - I meant to say dealer-installed alarm. It's an Excalibur K-9 M.A.T. alarm. When armed, the car chirps and lights flash. I found the wiring notes, as suggested, but am unsure of the troubleshooting involved. Should I test each of the lock related leads for continuity/resistance with a multi-tester? Also, I realized that the issue is probably isolated with the car's locking system, and not the alarm system. If I enter the car and use the car's power lock on the door, I get the same reaction - the car keeps trying to lock. You mentioned that it may be a bad ground; where and how do you suggest I start to troubleshoot that? Thanks!

Answer
Ok, get up to the brain box of the system,
and unplud. Then let's see what the door locks
do by the switch. If they return to normal,
then we at least know it's the addition of the alarm
that is causing the malfunction. If the system
is continuing this "fluttering" then you may
need to replace the door lock actuator.

But start with the general connection checks,
locate the BLACK wire from the alarm
and see where it's grounded. Maybe reposition?

Let me know.
