Car Alarms: Theft, passive system, melisa

Question
My husband and I bought some expensive equipment to put in his truck so we went to get the best alarm system the company had. Yesterday someone busted out his window and stole everything and the alarm didn't go off. Yes, it was on and the police put that in the report and the police tested the alarm out and it didn't go off then either...can I sue the alarm company for the alarm not going off/not working? I don't have the money to fix the window or to replace the equipment...please help. thank you

Answer
I am not a lawyer Ms. Melisa.
Wish I could advise you, but no, unless
I was the one who personally installed it,
I would then have to advise you take this
up with a lawyers office.

One thing here though, I can tell you that
unless the alarm was listed and installed
as a PASSIVE system (arms itself when the last
door is closed) that you probably won't have
a leg to stand on. I'd get with the installer
on that one. But more to the point. If planning
to sue, make sure you have all the facts
straight on this one important thing. If installed
as an ACTIVE armed system, then it would be up
to the owner to arm and lock the car. This means
you'd have to prove you did arm it. That's
gonna be a hard one.

Wish I had more.
Luck to ya. I feel your pain. :>(
