Car Alarms: Mitsubishi 2000 Montero Sport Alarm, voltage spikes, montero sport

Question
QUESTION: The car has been sitting for some time.  The battery was dead, so I replaced it.  Now, when I start it, the horn honks and lights flash while it is running.  Also, the remotes do not appear to work even after replacing their batteries.  Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
ANSWER: Try unlocking the door with a key.  When you unlock the driver's door with a key it sends a ground pulse to the alarm module telling it to disarm.  I would also try disconnecting the vehicle battery for a couple minutes, then when reconnecting ensure that you hold the terminal to the post when tightening the connection to prevent voltage spikes that could cause the system to lock up.

QUESTION: Tried both.  No success.  When I unlock the door w/ the key from outside, the other doors do not unlock, but when I sit inside, before putting the key in the ignition, I can flip the door lock and it locks and unlocks the other doors.  Also, when I put the key in and turn it to ACCESSORIE, it does not turn on anything.  I have to turn it all the way to RUN to get any power, and that is when the horn starts honking and lights blinking.  I can however, start the car and it runs, only with horn honking and lights blinking.  The remote does not do anything either as I stated previously.  Thanks again.

Answer
That is odd that you get nothing when turned to accessory, this leads me to believe your problem may be with the supply to the brain.  I would suggest posting your question to a Mitsubishi enthusiast forum where someone may be able to point you in the right direction.  Try posting your question to:
