Ford Repair: Overhead Trip Console, overhead unit, ford f250

The overhead trip console led panel has stopped working, I read, online, that it could possibly be the 680 resistors. My question is: how do I remove the console? I've located the clips that hold it in place and can release them but the console doesn't move. I assume the console slides forward or back.

The trim plate for the console is attached to the unit with 4 snaps - pull down on the trim (the colored part) to unsnap it from the console unit.  Then you'll find about 4 screws that hold the overhead unit to the roof... the internals of the unit are 'unfamiliar' because we only replace them (no repairs made to the electronics).
