QuestionMy husband's truck has an alarm system on it, we are not sure of the brand it has a sticker on the window " Pursuit Security Systems" he had a tune up at the time the alarm went off now sometimes it will crank and sometimes it will not...the mechanic. first thought that it was the fuel pump not getting gas but when he hit the tank the truck started. So we think its something to do with this system Do You Know Anything that might be of any help?
AnswerIt's an Audiovox maam. And the alarm sounds as if
it has a starter kill relay inline.
Most aftermarket alarms will have a valet/over ride
switch under the dash area. Look around, and
if found, put the key in the ignition, turn
all the way forward, just before cranking, and then
immediately press and hold in the button until
the siren chirps, and the LED in the dash
(the blinking light) goes on solid.
This is Valet or service mode.
At this point the car will start, and the
system is defeated. You would repeat the steps
to go back into usable mode.
If all else is equal, this should solve the issue.
If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect or, remove it.
