Car Alarms: want to disable the alarm system on 99 accord, omega brand, valet mode

Question
Hi
My 1999 accord LX has the factory alarm system (I think), but with after-market remote entry (omega brand).  The remote suddenly stopped working (i.e. red light still flashes when i hit "unlock" but car does not react) so I replaced the battery, but that did not solve the problem...  So now I'm thinking it must be a problem with the receiver or whatever inside the car?  (sorry, I'm car illiterate).  Anyway, I wouldnt mind getting rid of the alarm system entirely and just using powerlocks from now on but I dont know how to disable the system.  Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Liz

Answer
Hmmmm, may have lost remote programming.
Try to put it into service/overide:
Key on, press the button in the same
place that houses the blinking LED, for
up to 7 seconds. When the siren chirps 1 time,
you've sucessfully gone into valet mode.

This stops all functions except keyless entry
if installed. You will then need to get
the manual for the alarm (www.caralarm.com)
and reprogram the remotes.

Short of simply removing the alarm system
alltogether, this is how it's done.

Let me know what you discover here.
