Car Alarms: Phoenix Digital, nissan sentra, phoenix digital

Question
QUESTION: I have a Phoenix Digital alarm that was recently installed on my 94 Nissan Sentra.  The shock sensor, remote sensor, and valet button are all on one control.  The control is not sensing the remote even when I am standing at the car.  Since this is not sensing it is not unarming the car.  The remote has starter kill so I am unable to start the car without being able to unarm it.  The whole unit is not working so I am not able to use the valet switch either.  If you have any ideas how I can start my car please let me know.

ANSWER: Since the system is not responding to the valet switch, there are a couple of things I would try. Some systems lock up if the vehicle battery needed to be jumped and simply disconnecting the vehicle battery for a few minutes may clear up the problem.  Pulling the fuses that supply the system should also disable all alarm functions including starter kill.  If you paid a shop to install this unit I would be on the phone with them asking them to send a tech out to fix it.  If this is not an option and removing the fuses does not allow the car to start you will probably have to restore the wire that was cut to accomplish the starter kill circuit.

QUESTION: Thank you so much for those options.  If the tech that installed the alarm is not the same place it was purchased are they usually responsible for troubleshooting things like this still?

Answer
You paid the shop to install the system, correct?  The manufacturer's warranty is upheld through the retail outlet that you paid, not the installer himself/herself.  If you paid the tech directly on the side then it would be his/her responsibility but if you paid a shop to do the job, then it is the shop's responsibility.
