Volvo Repair: 86 240 DL Wagon alternator problems?, brake failure, type connector

Question
The radio recently completely faded out in my car and the fan motor also was losing power.  I drove the car immediately home (3 miles).  There were no warning lights lit but I was always taught when the above things start happening, it's the alternator.  Bought a new one and installed it.  I am not a mechanic but everything went back the way it came off.  When I start the car now, the battery light comes on along with the brake failure, parking brake and light bulb out light on the dash.  I don't know if the wires are hooked up wrong even though I diagramed them or if the alternator wasn't bad to begin with since no lights ever came on.  Any insight you could give would be greatly appreciated.  The only other thing was that on the old alternator there was a wire on the bottom that was not indentified.  On the new alternator there were two placed for D+ and one for B+.  I hooked the wire that was on the bottom of the old alternator to the B+ connection because there was no other place for it.  I assumed it was the B+ wire.  Thanks again for your time.  Chris

Answer
THERE SHOULD BE 3 CONNECTIONS I BELIEVE.ONE IS GROUND WIRE WHICH IS USUALLY BLUE AND HAS A SMALL ROUND EYE TYPE CONNECTOR.THE OTHER IS LARGER RED ROUND EYE TYPE CONNECTOR THIS IS B+.THE OTHER IS A SMALL FEMALE SPADE TYPE TEMINAL WIRE WHICH IS D61 OR D+ THERE SHOULD ONLY BE ONE PLACE FOR THIS TO CONNECT.
