Car Alarms: random car alarm, acura tl, acura tl type s

Question
QUESTION: hi my name is Christopher i have recently bought a 2003 acura tl type S. the factory alarm goes off randomly. i cant get it to do it at any given moment it just does it when it wants. if flashes all lights(headlights to taillights) and a horn sounds as well, goes for around 2 minutes like the manual says it will and then shuts off. if i unlock the doors to stop the alarm it has a tendency to do it again. always seems to be around the 5 minute mark for the first time it goes off, and then around 5 or so minutes for the second round.i have had it to the dealership they had it for 3 days and couldn't get it to go off. says they say a loose connection and fixed it. i think they did NOTHING!!!! i don't know what to do anymore. can it be the battery? its still the original i believe. the ground cable from battery to block is missing insulation and is looking green. i like the door locks and remote so what are my options. thanks for taking the time to read this hope to hear from you soon.
ANSWER: Probably a quirky connector or reading in the factory
system. These could be from detecting a power source,
or, as they suggested, a loose connection/wire. In this
car, the alarm also has a heat and cold sensor.
These have been known to spike alarms too, but
it appears that something "spooks" it into triggering.

The problem here is that the factory alarm is
tied into the door lock mecanism. There is no
wire to address. It arms when locked, and disarms
when unlocked. So this is done either by key, or
by remote. Try to do without the remote for 1 day.

Then if the key does work in the drivers
door lock, (turn left, then right) and no alarm
when you manually lock them. Then that tells
us the alarm probably is fine, but the remotes
are possibly picking up outside interference
and triggering the alarm. Or it's also possible
that the system needs to be replaced at Acura.

But try to nail
all of the veriables before that last option.

The solution then is to replace with a better
remote system.

Try it for a day. Then let me know
what happens. If no alarm, then you'll know
at least what to look at.

QUESTION: i tried the key only option today and had the alarm go off today. it was sitting in my drive way and i locked it with the key, around 5 minutes later it went off. but previous to that i had parked at my parents house and locked it with the key and the alarm didnt go off at all. it has to be the alarm module not the key fobs. what do you suggest? thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions i really appreciate this, cause right now i am feeling alone and without spending allot of money i dont know what to do.
ANSWER: I suggest getting an aftermarket keyless system to
substitute for the factory system as it appears your
OEM system would require repair or, replacemnt.

For about 50 bucks, you can replace it with an aftermarket
keyless. Short of that, Acura's replacement OEM system
would be around 900.

I hope this helps some.

Answer
