Land Rover Repair: Freelander TD4 start, electrical starter, starter motor

Question
I have just bought a 2003 TD4. After lying idle for three weeks, it started fine. Now it has been idle for another ten days, and won't start. Not even turn-over of starter motor. Other electrics appear ok. I assume immobilzer is released with ignition key, so looks like other electrical/ starter motor problem? Help appreciated.

Answer
Why do you assume the immobilizer is releaased?  That's the first place I'd look after the battery.

If the battery is good, and there is voltage at the big lug on the starter, but there is no power to the solenoid connection, you probably do have an immobilizer problem. If you have power there, you need a starter.

Try locking and unlocking, maving made sure the battery is good, to recycle the security system

If that doesn't do it you'll need a specialist or dealer with T4 or Autologic
