Car Alarms: ford mustang built in antitheft device, alarmtek, ford mustang

Hi, I have 1998 ford mustang with a built in alarm system.  Now what it started to do two weeks ago is when i would lock the car, as soon as I walk away the alarm goes of I've tried unplugging the battery but that did not work.  What I have noticed the "theft" device on the dashboard stays solid.  This only happens when I press the lock button or when I use the key to lock the car.  The only way that the alarm does not go off is if I manually lock the car.  Is there anything that I can do to reset the alarm?

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?
