Car Alarms: UNGO Alarm, ungo car alarm, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1974 Jaguar xke.  I bought it used and it came with an UNGO car alarm.  I assume it's from the 1970s.  It does not have a remote.  It has an alarm code and a disarm code.  The front of the box in the car has a 4 digit number code dial that sets the code.

I have a battery shut off switch and when I turn it on the horn goes off and  the car won't start.  I do not see a valet switch.  How do I disarm the UNGO system?  I switch the battery on and the horn goes off.  I immediately hit a red button on the front of the UNGO box, but nothing happens.  What else might I do to turn the unit off?

Thank you.
ANSWER: Without the 4 digit code, there is'nt much
you can do but to remove the systeM, which is
probably a good idea anyway du to it's
advanced age.

There is no other way that I can offer
here.

Sorry, but it's not something you can control
without the code.

QUESTION: I do have two codes.  I have the alarm arm code and the disarm code.  Does this help?

Answer
But, is the disarm code allowing you to start it?
If not, the trouble lies elsewhere. If it does,
then the 2 systems, ungo, and the keypad have
different ways to disengage. The Ungo may have a toggle
type switch, (ie; key on, flip switch, key off and
it resets or puts it into service mode, allowing for start)

Let me know if this applies. Look under the dash area,
also in the back under the back seat, which I beleive
is the fuse box area. Some installers may have opted
for this in the older Jags.
