Nissan Repair: oil pump 1994 hardbody, punch mark, oil hole

Question
I tried replacing the oil pump on my 94 hardbody - now it won't start. I only saw after I took out the oil pump that the book said it had to be at TDC before removing it. Did I throw off the timing? The oil pump bolted back on ok. I aligned the punch mark with the pump's oil hole. Is the oil pump connected to the distributor? Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jon -

If you did not remove the distributor before the pump, the timing is probably disturbed. Remove the distributor, then the pump. Align timing to TDC, and replace pump, then distributor. Ensure distributor rotor points to the #1 cylinder tower on the cap.

This is the 4 cylinder correct?

Hope this helps -
