Car Alarms: Car alarm and starter, valet mode, 2004 rav4

Question
QUESTION: Just recently the beep that sounds when I open or lock the doors on my 2004 Rav4 stopped.  I also noticed that after I lock the car the red light that indicates the alarm is on does not blink and I could not make the alarm go off.  Other than that the remote works.  What happened and how can I get the remote to beep again and the alarm to work?
Thanks!
ANSWER: This sounds like you put your system in valet mode.  Valet mode is a mode that allows the keyless entry of your system to remain operational and disable all security functions of your alarm.  Typically to put an alarm into valet mode you would have to flip/push a small switch under the driver's side dash while having the ignition key in the run position.  Depending on the system you may also be able to put the system in valet mode via the remote, most DEI manufactured systems can be put into valet mode by pressing lock/unlock/lock on the remote quickly.  If you post the exact make and model of your alarm I may be able to locate a user's manual for you that would explain this in much better detail.

QUESTION: It is an Automate remote with 4 buttons: lock, unlock, aux and start.  It was installed in my brand new 2004 Rav 4.  I tried the lock/unlock/lock sequence but it did not work.  I cannot find the valet button under the dash.  Help!

Answer
OK, I forgot to mention that the door needs to be open in order for remote valet to work.  Automate is made by the same people that make Viper so the lock/unlock/lock is more than likely an option.  I would need the model number of the system off the brain which is mounted in the vehicle to get your exact manual but here is a link to a manual for the Automate AM1 http://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/og/automate/G427A_01-05.pdf valet mode is explained starting on page 6.

Hope this helps.
