Car Alarms: Car alarm on a 2000 VW Jetta, vw jetta vr6, vw jetta

Question
QUESTION: We just bought a used 2000 VW Jetta VR6 and the alarm goes off by itself when the doors are locked, is there any simple way to just turn the alarm off or disconnect it so this doesnt happen anymore?
ANSWER: Hmmm, that's an odd one. I would look around inside for
a light that may have a delay on it. If so, then the
alarm seems to be reading that source and triggering.

The normal way in this car to disarm is to send the door
unlock wire 2 pulses. first to disarm 2nd for unlock.

This is done with a factory remote.
If you don't have it,

then you will most likely either need to go
to the local VDUB shop, and pay the 175.00
they want for the code key
remote, or get a keyless entry aftermarket
system and install it yourself to get the desired
effect.

I know this because I own a 2000 20 valve Passat Turbo and it's a royal pain to replace parts and electronics.
Nice car but the electronics needed aint cheap.

I hope you find another way, cause that
key chain remote is expensive.

Good luck.

QUESTION: we have the remote to turn the alarm off, the problem is the alarm will sound off by itself like 2 to 3 times a night for no reason, can we disable the alarm in any way to make it not work at all?

Answer
no, sorry, nothing all that easy on this one.
The alarm arms and disarm when the doors are locked
and unlocked. no veriables.

I refer to the last post:

If this does not do it, then you need to
see VDUB to reset it.

Sorry bout that.
