Question
QUESTION: Hello:

My car alarm keeps going off randomly and it has disabled the vehicle can't start it.  Is there a way to disable the alarm system and if I do that will my car still be disabled?

Please help.

Thanks
ANSWER: Dear Ms. Lisa,
Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a couse of action.

QUESTION: This is not an aftermarket system, it is the original system.  The horn goes off and the headlights go off.  It happens when you un-lock the door, open the door, open the hood of the car, etc... It can not be turned off it just stops after a few minutes. Also the car will not turn over. Quite frustrating.

Thanks.

Answer
The trouble with the factory system on this car is
that it works with the door lock/unlock
mechanism in the drivers door. The fix is to either get
the remote for it from Infinity and when you remotely
unlock it, it will also disarm it.
Or,
Buy an aftermarket system for around 50.00 and
install it. That will give you 2 remotes, and
control over the factory alarm as well.

But that unfortunately is the only way truely
to get around this particular issue in this car.

The aftermarket piece would be my choice here.

I hope this helps a bit to understand it.
