Car Alarms: REMOTE START ALARM, fuse holders, relay switch

Question
I have a Prestige remote start alarm, that I've had for about 2 yrs. The alarm will work well for awhile then just stop suddenly.  No sirens, no led light, no nothing. Recently the horn and lights started beeping rapidly all day and night. Finally I took the relay switch to the horn out so it wouldn't run down the battery. The lcd light still flashes constantly. Is there something I can check for to find out what's missing?  I have recently purchased a new remote, thinking this would solve the problem. But it won't even go into program mode to program the new remote!!

Answer
Take a look at the system ground.  More often than not systems that act erratically for no apparent reason can be traced back to a bad connection.

Also check the fuses that supply the brain of the alarm, I have seen some cases where one of the supply fuses went bad and would cause the system to act up due to feedback from the other internal circuits.

To find the brain of the alarm and the fuses/system ground pop down the dash under the steering column and find where the wires were tapped in.  Tracing these wires back to the brain will expose the fuse holders as well as the brain itself which will have a black wire that goes to a grounding point.

Hope this helps.
