Car Alarms: kill switch, starter problems, starter wire

Question
I have a kill switch key pad alrm on my toyota 4 runner. Recently I have had major starter problems and each time the starter tests fine. So I am thinking the alarm system is the problem. The alarm system was bypassed a year ago due to a bad wire somewhere. How can I completely remove the alarm system and do you think that this is causing my starter problems

Answer
Dear Sherri,
   I am confussed?
Is it an alarm and the starter kill key pad?
Or is it just the keypad?

If it's just the keypad, this can be removed
fairly easy. In the ignition switch wire
harness under the dash, there is a BLACK wire,
coming off the key switch. This is the starter
wire. When inspected, you will see the keypad
wires connected to it. Cut them. Then re attatch
the BLACK wire so that it is in pre install
condition and that's that. Your starter will
now always work when you go to start it.

Then simply, one by one, cut out the rest
of the keypads connections until removed.
Black tape off any open wires, and your done.

An alarm is a bit harder. But essentially
the same holds true for that too. Methodically
remove the attatched wires from the alarm brain
to the trucks wiring, and repair the wiring.

Once done, the alarm & keypad are out of the equation.

If the trouble you are having persists, then
look to a mechanical, or other electronic issues
other then the aftermarket devices you removed.

Print this out and take it to the local
installer, or do it yourself perhaps?

Good luck.
