Car Alarms: door locks, brain box, perfect connection

Question
I have a Mustang and the previous owner installed a python alarm/keyless entry. It always worked fine until i would start it occassionally with the remote and it would die down after running for like 2 seconds. Sometimes it starts clean and continues to run, and sometimes it starts and dies shortly after. This is an inconvenience, but not life-threatening. So if you have no advice, its ok.
The more pressing issue I'm having now is that i cant lock my doors. Couple weeks ago my remote was unable to lock my doors. It did set the alarm, and it did unlock the doors and disarm the alarm. But I figured I would just reprogram it eventually. Now I cant even lock my doors from the door itself. Both doors wont manually or remotely lock, for some reason they will unlock, but not lock. The remote is brand new and has perfect connection with receiver because all other functions work. Im 99% sure its the python system so i tried reseting it by turning ignition and hitting valet but didnt work. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

Answer
Larry,
It's very possible that the alarm is either in
the process of dying, or has died.
Since I can not inspect,
let me kust say that it's easier to
replace and update the system, then to repair
an old one.

That's to answer the last part of the question.
You can spend countelss hours shoring up a bad,
or cascading motherboard issue, or get in
there and make it right again.

On the first part of the question, the remote starter is
part of the Python, and if the mustang also has the
Ford PATS system, the bypass installed may have also
failed. The intermitencey usually means either a failing
brain box, or a misconnection. I am leaning towards the
latter. Take this to the nearest DEI Viper/Python dealer
for evaluation.

Can be a simple adjustment, to a full replacement.
The tech needs to inspect it.

I hope this helped some.

Good luck.
