Car Alarms: kick back car alarrm, silent mode, quiet mode

My car alarm appears to be on valet even after I take off The alarm is aftermarket.  I turn the ignition forward, locate the reset button under the dash and the lights flash and the siren goes off once.  The I turn the ignition off.  When I set the alarm the siren does not sound off.  I am able to trip the alarm and the siren goes off, the lights flash, and I can turn the alarm off with the remote.  I can go back and forth from valet but I can not get the alarm to reset.  Please help.  Thank you.

I don't know the system Gene, but my guess
on this is that the alarm is in silent mode,
In the manual, it should explain how to toggle
in and out of silent mode. Look in
features programing.

Of course it may describe it as "chirpless" or
quiet mode, but from your description, that
may be the trouble. Let me know if I was right.
