Car Alarms: factory alarm problems, ford mustang, purple wire

Question
i have a 1998 ford mustang gt, its been running fine well today it wouldnt crank we hooked up a computer and it came back with theft detected engine disabled code
well we cleared the codes 2 times and nothing still wouldnt crank we disconnected the red cable to battery and nothing, well we let it sit for about an hour and all of a sudden it cranks up now, but i'm afraid it may do it again
any ideas on what could be wrong with it and how to fix it?
thanks

Answer
This seems to be the anti theft system on
the first look at it, and if you want to be
certain it does not happen again, I would
terminate the factory alarm to see if it is
the culprit.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
the darl green/purple wire located in the
drivers side foot/kick panel area.

Once Located, splice into either wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.
If it does make the correction, then yes,
it was the issue, and yes, you can either leave
it that way, or take it up to Ford, show them
that grounding out the disarm wire did the job,
and no you want them to look at the OEM alarm
and repair the trouble. ($$$)
I'd leave it disabled, and then put in an aftermarket
system to pick up the slack. But that's me.

Let me know what you discover.
Have a good day.
