Car Alarms: failure to start, jeep liberty, designtech

Question
I had a python 1400xp installed on my wives '02 jeep liberty about a year and a half ago.  This past winter the system started to malfunction, meaning when she gets up in the morning and tries to use the unit it fails to start the car.  It begins to crank the car but stops at the first point of cranking.  Is this a problem that can be fixed by replacing a certain part or does the whole system need to be replaced?  Thanks in advance
