Car Alarms: Avital Alarm Problem, blown fuses, alarmtek

Question
I have a 1997 Dodge Ram with an Avital alarm/ auto start. After a heavy rainfall the truck would not start. I attribute this to maybe the ignition wires getting wet (as the truck started several hours later with no problem), but now the alarm won't work. The LED light which is normally illuminated is not. The remote does not start or lock/unlock the car. I have moved the valet switch back and forth, and I even tried the reset fix listed in an earlier post. Please help....

Also, any idea on where to get a spare remote and programming instructions, for one of these old alarm systems?

Thanks a million....

Answer
Wish I had some good news, but it does seem from
your expaination that the system is indeed,
shorted out. I would get in there, pull the Avital,
check all fusable links for blown fuses, then
re plug the brain box. If the simple act
of replacing the fuses does the trick, then great.
If not, don't keep trying. It's a gonner, and will
be a mess to try to bring back online.

At this point, time to get a new one
with a warranty.

For info on the alarm and remotes,
try www.directed.com or, www.keylessride.com
to replace the remotes.

I hope this helped some.
