Car Alarms: Honda Accord 1999, EX-Security system, valet mode, honda accord ex

Question
My car alarm will not stop going off.  It is in a 1999 Honda Accord EX.  It will only stop going off if the key is in the on position.  All doors, Trunk and hood is closed.  Car is unlocked.

Answer
The 1999 EX Accord's factory alarm arms and disarms with lock and unlock.  This leads me to believe either the alarm does not know the vehicle is unlocked or the alarm is just bad.  Either way if it is a factory alarm it would need to be taken to a dealer for service as the alarm is a function of the BCM in that vehicle.

If it is an after market alarm you would be able to disarm it by putting it in valet mode, which is typically achieved by turning the key to the run position and pressing a switch under the dash.  You would also be able to disconnect the after market alarm by removing the dash panel under the steering column, tracing back the wires that were tapped in for the alarm and removing the fuses that supply the brain.
