Car Alarms: galaxy 5000rs remote start, galaxy 5000rs, starter button

i just installed the galaxy 5000rs remote starter and i got it to work 2 times, as far as the remote start is concerned, but now for some reason it wont start via the remote anymore...it says on the trouble shoot guide that if i press the starter button on the remote and the light flashes 7 times, it means that the start was canceled...why would that be? also,(this might help) when i try to activate the remote start feature while the car is running (leave the engine on, engage e-brake, have gear in neutral) the directions say to engage the remote start feature and then turn off the ignition and that the engine will keep running until i get out of the car and close the door. the problem with that is that as soon as i turn off the ignition the engine completely stops running...got any idea why this might be and how i might go about solving this problem? thanks in advance =D
