Car Alarms: remote start and alarm going hay wire, remote start, valet

Question
1998 ranger: my alarm started going off by its self, even when i didn,t arm it. about 6:00 in the morning, I believe its a factory alarm. I couldn,t get it to shut off so I grounded the purple/green wire in door/and that seemed to disable alarm, but it also disabled the remote start...now  my truck is starting on its own with out keys in the ignition..seems to happen when its raining or wet out.. I have one remote that works both the remote start and the alarm with no valet switch under dash..

Answer
If grounding the purple/green solved the alarm issue then it is indeed a factory alarm.  It should not however have disabled the remote start.  If moisture in the air is causing problems I would look into the obvious...check to ensure the seals at the driver's door is not leaking.  Make sure there is no way that water would get into the brain of the remote start, and I would strongly recommend re grounding the system.  If the ground is bad/intermittent/weak it could also cause random issues.  The ground should be to a piece of metal with all paint and primer removed, not to a factory bolt.
