Car Alarms: disconnect security system, odd setup, system resets

Question
i have a 1998 chevy pick up with an aftermarket system. The theft system is connected to the door locks and the starter. To start the truck you have to insert the key into the ignition and then lock the doors with the keyless buttons. The system quit working and now the only way to start the truck is to disconnect the battery then start the truck. After you turn off the truck and remove the key the system resets itself. How do i disconnect the whole system?

Answer
That is a very odd setup!!! You have to insert the key and then unlock the doors with the remote? Well it is very easy to remove depending on how it was hooked up. Just Find the brain which is usually mounted under the driver side dash unhook all wiring running from the brain. If any wires are cut you will have to reattach them. Just take your time and make sure the battery is disconnected before removing any wires.
