Car Alarms: valet mode, valet mode, toyota avalon

Question
Where would the usual place be for the installing of the valet switch. I have a toyota avalon and I believe the alarm is by checkmate that is what the remote says. I didnt have it installed it was already on my car and it goes into valet mode without me doing it. The last time it did that it went back by itself but I had no alrm for a couple of months I dont want that to happen again. I hope you can help me.

Answer
Typically a valet switch is mounted somewhere on the driver's side of the vehicle.  In a hidden location, somewhere not obvious.  If you have managed to put your system into valet mode without knowing where the switch is, I would have to think it is somewhere where your feet can hit it, or maybe your leg can hit it when getting in and out of the vehicle.  A valet switch is normally a small toggle or momentary switch mounted in a 1/4" hole.

It is also possible that the system can be put into valet mode via a sequence on the remote like hitting unlock/lock/unlock rapidly.  I am not familiar with the checkmate brand and doing a web search did not reveal any information to who manufacturers the system.
