Car Alarms: car alarm, jeep wrangler, key cylinder

Question
We have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with an alarm we didn't even know was on there until the battery went dead and we had to change it.  We bought the jeep used and it doesn't have a remote entry w/panic button.  We just went out to get something out of the glovebox and the alarm went off  and now we can't get it to go off...I can not find a valet button and I tried unlocking the drivers door with key and the only way to get it off is to diconnect the battery. Help.....

Answer
Take a look under the driver's side dash of the vehicle and look at the ignition harness running down from the key cylinder.  This is where the starter kill circuit, and probably the main power connections would have been made.  Following this harness back should reveal inline fuse holders that hold fuses that supply the brain of the alarm.  Removing these fuses should disable the alarm system.  Tracing these wires back will take you to the brain itself, and on the brain there should be some type of markings letting you know what make and model the system is.  Once you have this information it can point you in the direction of purchasing new remotes for the system.  If you post the exact make and model, I may be able to provide assistance in both finding new remotes as well as manuals for the system.
