Car Alarms: 98 malibu / key passcode, japanese vehicles, members tripod

Question
I am trying to get my bcm to learn a new pass code but i'm no sure if i should just leave the white wire open or put a resistor in .
i tried it open , left the key on for more than 15 min.
i was thinking of putting a resistor from pink to white going to bcm so i can use the regular key & the auto startor

Not a GM installer so I don't actually know on this
one what to advise except to suggest going
to http://members.tripod.com/alarmtek/VATS.html
to see the relay diagram again, to do the
bypass. I specialize in Japanese vehicles,
so I am rusty on PASSLOCK.
