Car Alarms: 1997 Jeep Cherokee alarm, valet mode, jeep cherokee

The alarm has been activated and will not reset by manually locking / unlocking liftgate.  I'm sure that the problem is in the switches in the liftgate, however I need to disable alarm system until I have the time to properly repair system.  How can I disable alarm so that it will run?

DEI does not list a factory alarm for the 1997 Cherokee.  Look under the dash of the vehicle for a small toggle switch, if you find it, turn the ignition to the run position and flip the switch, this would put your system into valet mode and allow you to work on the vehicle.
