Car Alarms: 98 toyota tacoma, toyota tacoma, steering column

I just replaced the starter in my 98 toyota tacoma.  Now the alarm is engaged again.  I bought this truck in april, and never realized it had an alarm, nor got the keychain to engage/disengage... is there any way to manually turn the alarm off?  I cant start my truck without it going off, and the friend who put the starter in has no idea.

To my knowledge the 98 Tacoma did not come with an alarm from the factory.

This means it was installed either by the dealer or an after market company.  If you can not find a valet switch to over ride the alarm, I would suggest popping down the dash under the steering column and finding where they tapped into the factory wiring.  There will be inline fuse holders that supply the brain of the alarm, pulling these fuses should allow the truck to behave as if it never had an alarm.
