Car Alarms: alarm too sensitive, shock sensor, dome light

Question
I have a dealer installed Chapman alarm on my 06 4Runner, every time a large truck rumbles by my alarm would go on. Is there a way to reprogram the sensitivity without having to bring it back to the dealer.

Answer
You need to locate and turn down the shock sensor installed
under the drivers dash. There is a wheel inset into
it that if turned counter clockwise, will turn down the
sensitivity. In my experience however, I dislike
shock/impact sensors for the very reason you wrote about.

I'd either unplug it, and rely on the door trigger/dome light trigger, or put a microwave-motion sensor in instead
to detect MOVEMENT inside the vehicle as opposed
to vibration. Too many veriables there.

I hope this helps.
