well i know the alram for the doors work fine but on my pager it shows a picture of the trunk and hood open. Could the trigger be for either one? Or does it involve the door? Thanks a lot, i really appreciate your advice.

-----Question-----
Hello, I have a 2001 Ford mustang 3.8 V6 model. I recently had a Prestige car alarm installed, model #APS-997. Problem is when I lock the doors with the remote and the alarm is activated it just goes off maybe like an hour later. Nobody touches it, no car passes by, nothing. I went back to the shop and the installer lowered the sensitivity level but nothing as of yet has occurred. This problem is really annoying? Any clues on what I should do. Could the alarm be problematic, should i get a new one installed?
-----Answer-----
No, I would run it back to the installer, and tell him
to first check the door triggers as it appears that he
either missed on (there are 2) and or, to go to the correct
wire for the door trigger in the first place.

There are two door trigger wires. Use yellow/black
for the drivers door and gray/red for the
passengers door. Both wires are found above the
drivers kick panel in a 20 pin connector.
Use both wires and diode isoate each.

If this was not done correctly, the alarm will
trigger intermittently because it "sees"
that a door is open.

I am wagering that the installer only did 1 wire.

Let's see if I am right.

Let me know.

The point I was trying to convay was that
this vehicle has 2 sets of triggers and if one is
not addressed, the alarm will only read the
ones it does see, and regard the other trigger as an
open circuit, thus triggering the alarm.

My belief here is that this was missed in your install.

Answer
No, this one sounds like a mecanical
or computer related issue.

Call Ford for a diagnostic on this
trouble.

The alarm is responding to low voltage from the
description. The alarm, as with all other devices,
depends on the car's own electrical system
to operate correctly.

Call ford.
