Car Alarms: 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse keyless entry problem, keyless entry system, fuse boxes

Question
Hi,

I was installing new fog lights, which I wanted to connect directly to the parking lights, and I crossed the wrong wires, which blew the parking lights' fuse. I replaced the fuse, and the parking lights/fog lights work fine, however the keyless entry system has stopped working. Is there a seperate fuse for the factory keyless entry system that might need to be replaced? I've checked all the fuses in both fuse boxes, and everything looks fine. I do not know where the keyless entry system is located in the vehicle, so cannot inspect it for problems, Any help is appreciated.

Answer
It's entirely possible you did some damage
when you tied into the parking lights without
a relay and inline fuse.

That being said, if you did toast the keyless module,
then you need to power down the car entirely,
pull the keyless module and simply smell it.
YOU know what you are looking for,
and if you do smell burnt, then it's
gotta be replaced. Got to aftermarket at the
local parts store for a new one.

But try just simply resetting first. Then if no joy,
my bet it the keyless module got zapped.

Good luck with it.
