Car Alarms: dodge car alarm reset, karr alarm system, valet mode

Question
My wife has a 97 dodge intrepid with a KARR alarm system with a toggle switch under the wheel. I was attempting to put a new cd player in the cheap way without buying the wiring harness. The cd played didn't have a wire to match the illumination wire of the car. I ended up putting the original tape player back in and the battery dies after every jump start. The light by the toggle blinks and makes a clicking sound until the battery dies. Is this one of those radio codes, just the alarm code or what. Please give me any knowledge you have on this. Thanks.

Answer
I am not too familiar with the KARR brand, but most alarms offer a valet mode that would be entered by turning the ignition key to the run position and either pushing the button or flipping the switch.  This causes the LED to illuminate solid and puts the system in valet mode, which disables all security features of the alarm.

As far as the CD player goes: you do not need to worry about the illumination wire, it is not a mandatory connection, just nice to have it dim with the dash lights.
