Car Alarms: Viper Ultra 800/850 car alarm, starter wire, gm vehicles

Question
This has been on my Camero since 1993. A lot has been done to the car from new batteries to new window motors, starter, etc. This is the first time I have had a problem where the car would not start. Rather than disconnect the whole system, I would like to keep the alarm from preventing the car from starting. I still have all the owner manuals, installation guide, etc. This way when I sell the car I can show new owner how I did the deed!!  Thanks

Answer
Just reconnect the starter wire.  The starter wire would have been cut and put to a relay in a normally closed configuration. Just reconnecting the starter wire should resolve your issue, if it is the alarm causing it not to start.

With that being said, I would recommend taking a look into the VATS system possibly being your problem.  The pellet in the key may no longer be making a good connection with the contacts in the ignition switch.  This is pretty common on the older GM vehicles equipped with VATS.
