My car alarm just suddenly stopped after I had used it previously that morning now I have replaced the batteries for the remote and I don't think there is a manual way of setting the alarm but I had read on a previous FAQ that there is a on off switch that can be triggered underneath the dash on the drivers side I have looked for this switch thinking I may have accidentally switched it and can find none so In short my car alarm suddenly won't activate by any means

The valet switch may be in a hidden location.  If your LED is light solid then your system is in valet mode.  If your doors lock and unlock with the remote still, I would think that your system is in valet mode.  Some systems offer the option of putting the system in valet mode via the remote control.  If you post the exact make and model of your system I will see what I can do about finding an owner's manual for your specific system.
