Car Alarms: 2004 Chevy Avalanche factory alarm, chevy avalanche, programmable option

I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche with the factory alarm, every time I close the door the alarm automatically sets itself without using the remote.  I would mlike for this not to happen.  I want the alarm to set by only using the remote.

This is a factory alarm that arms itself?  If it is then look in the vehicle's owner's manual.  The manual will tell you how to turn that feature off.  

If this is an after market system, then that too would be explained in the owner's manual.  Normally a programmable option via the switch mounted in the vehicle.
