Car Alarms: Clifford Alarm, clifford alarm, chicagoland area

Question
Hello there,
I have a 1994 Ford Taurus with an old Clifford 2 button fob. Button 2 only unlocks the doors and button 1 is supposed to start the car. I understand Clifford was bought out by another company.
I took it in to a place a year and a half ago to get it fixed and they repaired a hanging starter relay and a hood pin switch. It worked for about a year.
Now the doors still unlock with button 2, but when I try to start the car with button 1 I can hear clicking but no engaging of the starter. It goes.... click...click...(slight delay) click (but no engagement of the starter).
I'm from the Chicagoland area and am trying to get the car ready for my daughter who just turned 16. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
Jim

Answer
Yeah, no Jim,
Unless they want to service the old thing again,
my first suggestion is to pull the old Clifford,
and put in something fresh, and ready for
the next geneation driver. That way, no issues.
YOU KNOW what to expect from it, and how to
troubleshoot if it comes up.

Other then that, there may be a dead relay or circuit,
a possible grounded pin switch somewhere you did
not check, like at the hood. But other then a full
overhaul, it's wiser to go new, and save future problems
like late at night alone, etc...

I hope this helps.
